The Akuapem Mampong Magistrate Court in the Eastern Region has remanded Kwame Dankwa accused of murdering a drinking Spot Operator-Yaw Ben Sarfo over GHc5 in Akuapem Apirede.
The accused Kwame Danquah, 33, was arraigned before the court today 22nd June 2021 on a charge of murder contrary to section 46 of Act 29/60.
He was remanded into Police Custody to assist in investigations and reappear on 13th July 2021.
The now-deceased persons identified only as Yaw Ben Sarfo was shot twice in the rib and chest by his assailant Kwame Dankwa a farmer on Thursday, June 17, 2021, around 9:00pm, according to a witness.
The incident occurred during a misunderstanding between the two when the suspect attempted to retrieve his Ghc5 debt from the now-deceased person.
The deceased allegedly slapped the suspect who also rushed into his room pulled a gun and shot the victim twice in revenge.
He later reported himself to the Adukrom Police. He was arrested and sent to Akropong Divisional Police Command to assist the investigation.
Police visited the scene of the crime and after taken inventory conveyed the body to Tetteh Quashie Memorial Hospital where he was confirmed dead.
The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh confirmed the incident.
