Emeritus Prof. Apostle Kwadwo Safo has received The Gold Star Order of the Face of the Globe Award from the United Nations (UN) during the 39th exhibition of achievements of the great pastor and engineer at Awoshie in Accra, Ghana.
The great man of God with creativity was honoured for his works and achievements in technology and service to humanity.
The annual technology and agricultural exhibition fair is when Apostle Sarfo leads his group to parade manufactured machinery and agricultural produce.
The worldwide body conferred the first-ever United Nations Blueprint Award on him in recognition of his achievement that includes an icon of peacemaking.
It was also an opportunity for other United Nations Award Winners in the sports fraternity like ex football goal keeper turned coach Ali Jarra, sports journalist Sammy Heywood Okine, Madam Gloria Commodore, executive director of WISA and Cynthia Akwele Lamptey of the GNFS also a former footballer and handballer to be decorated with medals in honour of the late former UN Secretary General, Dr. Kofi Annan.
Presenting the award, Ambassador for Africa on the Affairs of the United Nations Secretary-General, Dr. Kwame Owusu Fordjour said Apostle Sarfo has gone through the mill to attain the status of handling a whole nation per his innovations.
Dr. K. Foudjour presented the medals to other winners and urged them to serve their roles as ambassadors of the UN with dignity and honour.
He said they were specially chosen among a lot of nominees and winning the UN Global Award should be a great accomplishment.
Madam Gloria Commodore of Women In Sports Association (WISA) said the award has really motivated her and she hopes to use her experience to help young girls in sports, especially in administration and media.
She called for the training of sports men and women to become coaches or managers and administrators to impart on others.
Cynthia Akwele Lamptey of the Ghana Fire Service said she now sees the benefits of sports and does not regret doing sports for Ghana.
She promised to support WISA in their activities to encourage more female participation in sports.
