Former Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah has explained why he has reapplied for the vacant Black Stars coaching job.
The Ghana Football Association has been on a hunt for a new coach following the resignation of Otto Addo as head coach of the Black Stars after the World Cup.
“It is true. After the FA came out no Ghanaian has applied for the vacant Black Stars job, I thought it wise to apply being a Ghanaian. I felt we need to prove that we can also do good things for the black stars to achieve greatness, hence my application” he told Sompa FM in Kumasi.
This means Kwesi Appiah is seeking for a third stint with the Black Stars.
The former Asante Kotoko captain has been in charge of the four time African champions on two occasions and was recently relieved off his duties in December 2019 after his contract expiration by the Ghana FA.
The domestic football governing body are expected to name a new coach for the national before the closure of January.
