Pending the set timelines for completion of the Appiatse reconstruction project, Hon. Benito Owusu-Bio, the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Chairman of the Appiatse Reconstruction Implementation and some Committee members have paid a working visit to the site to inspect the status of work ahead of its finalisation.
After a thorough assessment of the habitations on Wednesday, 10th January, 2024, the Deputy Minister commended Megatech contractors for the standard of works done. He noted that almost all expected works both internally and external have been done as expected.
The Chairman, further instructed the other five contractors to emulate their colleague to produce the same level of work as soon as possible.
During a site meeting with AESL consultants and contractors, Hon. Benito demanded that the pace of work must be incresed to ensure that work is delivered on the set date for delivery.
He was also emphatic on the quality of work inspite of the deadlines. He said, room appliances such switches, sinks and fans fixed must be tested before handing over.
Addressing concerns of some members of the community on repairs for buildings on peripherals who were affected by the explosion, the Chairman assured them that the repair works will begin soon.
He reecohed government’s commitment to reconstruct the Appiatse community into a modern, green and sustainable community as a model for rural development.
Mr. Charles Blankson-Hermans, a member of the ARIT Committee and Ghana Institute of Architect disclosed that a six-member task force team will be brought on site on January 15, 2024 to impose the completion of works as specified.
He mentioned that focus should also be turned towards the surroundings and external works as project comes to a closure.
Mr. Agyei Marfo, Manager of Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL), the Project Consultants for Appiatse appealed to contractors to attach the highest level of importance and speed to the project to deliver an excellent work to the people of Appiatse.
