Armed Police and Military Personnel have stormed Akyem Akokoaso Community in Akyemansa District in the Eastern region to avert clashes between two feuding factions in a chieftaincy dispute.
There has been a feud between the Ekona Nneduasa family and Ekona Edwenase family over who is has the legitimacy to enstool a chief.
The Nneduasa family claimed that they are the rightful family by history to ascend to the stool as chief while their opposing faction enstools Queen-mother by default convention.
Attempt by Ekoana Edwenase family to install Nana Kwasi Obeng as Chief was greeted with tension and threats forcing the deployment of military and Police to the community
The security personnel invaded the family house ekona nneduasa Sunday evening and searched for weapons and ammunition but to no avail.
The presence of the security enabled the ekona edwenase family to peacefully install Nana Kwasi Obeng as Chief of Akyem Akokoaso on Monday, December 13, 2021.
The Community is calm but there is still a heavy security presence.
