The Omankrado of Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area, Nana Kwao Adofrakye (V) has urged the Forestry Commission of Ghana to consider dealing with people who intentionally destroy trees in the environment.
He cited the activities of sand winners as an emerging threat to the survival trees.
According to him, allowing the culprits to go scot-free after destroying the trees embolden impunity which is risky to a sustainable environment.
The Chief said this in an interview with Bryt FM News Correspondent Eric Owusu Amponsah today when the Gomoa East District Assembly observed the Green Ghana Project a Gomoa Potsin, Nana Kwao Adofrakye (V) said the Green Ghana initiative is laudable to replenish the destroyed vegetation and forests.
The Traditional ruler however, appealed to all and sundry to take the exercise seriously and take part in a future event.
Over five million trees were planted nationwide during the exercise led by the President of the Republic of Ghana Akufo-Addo.
