Chiefs and farmers in Asamang Tamfoe, in the Atiwa East District of the Eastern Region, are calling for the immediate arrest of a notorious illegal miner whose operations are destroying farmlands and threatening public safety
The Miner allegedly operates with armed landgaurds mostly at night.
The illegal miner, identified only as Abeiku, is accused of unlawfully taking over about 13 hectares of farmlands, claiming the land belongs to the chief of Ankaase .
However, the Chief of Asaman Tamfoe, Osabarima Kwame Koh, disputes this Assertion.
The situation escalated when some local farmers confronted the illegal miner at the galamsey site, demanding an end to his activities.

Farmlands belonging to Nana Adae Frimpong Manso, the Nifahene of Asaman Tamfoe,and other farmers have also been taken over by the galamsayer.
Meanwhile, Abeiku’s mining activities along the Osino-Anyinam bypass road are posing serious danger to the ongoing road project in the area.
Sensing an imminent crackdown, Abeiku has taken legal action, filing a lawsuit at the Koforidua High Court against Ernest Owusu Ntim, the newly nominated District Chief Executive, and several community leaders for allegedly trespassing his land.
The chiefs and residents are calling on the security agencies and authorities to swiftly intervene and restore calm to the community.
