The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Company, Kwadwo Odame Antwi, is expected to pick nomination form today, 30th January to join Lower West Akyem New Patriotic Party Parliamentary Primaries.
So far, Former MP and MCE for the Area, Honourable Gifty Klenam and Kwabena Sintim Aboagye have picked nomination forms respectively for the Constituency race which is currently occupied by Honourable Eyiah Kyei Baffour who is yet to pick form.
In a telephone interview with Mr. Kwadwo Odame Antwi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Company who hails from Osenase in the Municipality confirmed to join the race for the second time.
He attained his Second and first degrees from the University of Ghana Business School and GIMPA Greenhill College respectively.
Mr. Antwi is a team player and leader, endowed with persuasive leadership abilities and communication skills, both verbal and written. Preceding his university education, he studied Purchasing and Supply Management from the Koforidua Technical University and committed himself to acquiring a plethora of skills and abilities that have brought him this far in life and continue to catapult him to be on top of his performance.
Engaging in activities and roles that offer the opportunity to express his natural talents in public speaking, research, writing, and leadership, together with his boundless optimism and infectious positive energy; he is often referred to as a motivator for any team he has led or worked with. He has made it an ambition to always leave a mark and an indelible one at that, wherever he finds himself. Kwadwo has demonstrated his ambitious character in many ways wherever he worked and in any capacity. One such reference to this innovative and ambitious attribute is the development and implementation of the Aayalolo BRT public bus transportation system during his days with the World Bank-funded Ghana Urban Transport Project.
Before joining the GTDC, Kwadwo Antwi was the Head of Business Development and Strategy at Ghana Union Assurance.
Within the few months of taking office at the Ghana Tourism Development Company, he has transformed the company into admirable standards noticed by all stakeholders including shareholders, industry practitioners, staff of the Company and other external stakeholders.
Through internal and external consultations, four main projects have earmarked and guaranteed to propel the success of the company in attaining its mandate of developing and promoting investments into the tourism sector. These projects, which have already taken off and on various levels, are envisaged to promote domestic and international tourism in Ghana.
The Marine Drive which a flagship coastal development project is aimed at boosting the tourism, economic and employment avenues for the nation; The Centre of the World Project would place Ghana on the world tourism map and claim for our nation its rightful status as the only habitable land closest to the interjectory points where the latitude and longitude meet at zero degrees; Development of tourist sites in Ghana to improve upon both domestic and international tourism; Construct model budget hotels in selected locations in the country called the ‘GH Akwaaba Hotels’; and together with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and the Ghana Tourism Authority establish a hospitality training facility to train qualified personnel to improve service delivery which is critical to the development of the tourism sector in Ghana.
Kwadwo Odame Antwi is married with six children and a lover of the Arts and Sports, especially tennis and golf.
