The Zango Chief of Asamankese in Eastern region Alhaji Ballah Shaibu has called on traditional leaders and police to come together to crack down on criminal elements parading as fetish priests and spiritualists in the area.
The call by the Chief follows butchering of his 25 year old daughter by a fetish priest in Asamankese.
He said many concerns were raised by residents regarding criminal conduct of the suspect fetish priest to the extent that some reported him to the police but was set free.
The broken-hearted fetish priest identified as Togbe Gadefia savagely attacked his ex-girlfriend Rakia Huseini with machete and cut off her forearm and kneecap at Asamankese .
Togbe Gadefia and the 25 year old Rakia Huseini were in romantic relationship until Rakia broke up with him to marry a muslim.
Togbe Gadefia reported to have multiple wives and lives in Krofoforom a suburb of Asamankese was seriously heartbroken and did everything possible to get her lover back but was rejected.
Upon hearing that ,the ex-lover was getting marry to another man this weekend ,he ambushed her in the evening around 9:00pm on Monday September 11,2023 and inflicted near deadly machete wounds on her.
The suspect allegedly attempted to butcher head of Rakia but she blocked with her hand thereby amputating the forearm.
He also cut off the patella (kneecap) of the ex-lover with the machete.
The victim shouted for held and was rushed to Asamankese government hospital by passersby who found her in a pool of blood.
After her condition was stabilized, she was referred to Eastern Regional hospital in Koforidua where surgery performed and now recuperating according to medical doctors.
The suspect reported himself to Police and has since been remanded by Police to assist investigation.
