Former Ghana football icon Asamoah Gyan has admitted not being fair to the youth and Ghanaians for his involvement in the New Patriotic Party’s campaign.
The former Black Stars skipper publicly declared support for vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who is the flagbearer of the NPP and went ahead serve as the chairman of Youth and Sports Manifesto sub-committee.
Upon second thought, the legendary forward expressed he has not been fair in his dealings and has therefore distanced himself from politics.
Gyan has now shifted his attention to humanitarian work and youth empowerment.
“I HAVEN’T BEEN FAIR TO THE YOUTH AND THE PEOPLE OF GHANA. HENCE FORTH I AM NOT AFFILIATED TO ANY POLITICAL PARTY, I WILL CONTINUE WITH MY HUMANITARIAN WORK AND HELP THE YOUTH OF GHANA IN MY OWN SMALL WAY. NOTHING POLITICAL, I WISH ALL THE POLITICAL PARTIES A PEACEFUL ELECTION ON THE 7TH DECEMBER, GOD BLESS OUR HOMELAND GHANA, THANK YOU” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Meanwhile, the former Sunderland star has wished all parties a peaceful election in the on December 7.
The 38-year-old is the all-time topscorer for the Black Stars. He racked up 51 goals in 109 appearances for the West Africa powerhouse.
