Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has led many of Black Stars players to pay glowing tribute to late winger Christian Atsu.
Atsu lost his life following the devastating earthquake that hit the city of Hatay in Turkey on February 6, 2023.
The lifeless body of Atsu was recovered from the rubble of the collapsed apartment he was living in on Saturday, February 18, 2023.
However, a lot of Black Stars player who shared the dressing room with Atsu has taken to social media to mourn the 31-year-old.
“Rest in Peace, Brother,” Gyan wrote on Twitter.
Ghana captain Andre Ayew reacting to the death of Atsu said, “I’m totally devastated!,” Ayew said.
“Christian was a good and genuine guy, a selfless individual who put smiles on our faces and the many people who encountered him. This has really hit me because this was not what I was hoping for. My prayer was that you would be found; but certainly not this way.”
“For all the moments we shared and the support we gave each other; I will forever miss you. May Allah keep you my brother Christian.”
“My deepest condolences to Marie-Claire, the kids, your family and loved ones. Fare thee well Champ!”

Christian Atsu’s close pal, Mubarak Wakaso said, “Rest Well” he wrote on Twitter with heartbroken emoji.
Majeed Ashimeru:
“Your life was a blessing; your memory, a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. May Allah give you eternal rest” he tweeted.
Bernard Tekpetey:
“Rest in Peace C. Atsu. 2 Corinthians 3:16-17,” he wrote on twitter with a heartbroken emoji.
Jordan Ayew:
“Deeply saddened by the passing of my friend and teammate. The entire nation is mourning our loss. Completely devastated. Thank you for everything. Rest well Christian. My thoughts and prayers are with your family,” he wrote on Instagram.
