Asante Kotoko coach Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum has successfully underwent surgery after a short illness.
The former Premier League winner seized the opportunity to attend to health issues following the conclusion of the 2023/24 football season.
“Our head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has undergone a successful surgery after a short illness. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back soon. GET WELL SOON, Coach!” the club wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Despite the surgery, he is expected to lead Kotoko in the upcoming football campaign.
Meanwhile, it is unknown whether Ogum will be available for Kotoko when they take on sworn rivals Hearts of Oak in the Democracy Cup slated for July 5, 2024 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Porcupine Warriors will begin preparation for the much-anticipated game on Friday, June 28, 2024 at the Adako Jachie.
The Ghanaian giants endured a torrid campaign last term and are aiming for a much better performance in the upcoming season.
Following their disappointing performance, the club has parted companies with 19 players including captain Danlad Ibrahim, Enoch Morison and Isaac Oppong.
Meanwhile, top striker Steven Mukwala and midfielder Richmond Lamptey have left the club on a free transfer following the expiration of their contracts.
