Ghana Premier League powerhouse Asante Kotoko is set to return to action after almost three-weeks’ absence from competition football.
The Porcupine Warriors withdrew from all football related activities after devoted fan Francis Yaw Frimpong (Nana Pooley) tragically lost his life in Nsoatre on February 2, 2025.
In an attempt to show solidarity, the Ghanaian giants has since not played a competitive football in the country. Their FA Cup game against Eleven Wise was postponed as the team seeks justice for their respected fan.
However, the team returned to training last week following a series of meetings with the Ghana Football Association and the Ghana Police Service.
Addressing the media on Monday morning, Sarfo Duku, who is the communication director of Kotoko disclosed his outfit will return to action after the burial of their fan on March 6, 2025.
“I would like to declare that, based on the happenings, Asante Kotoko shall be ready for action after the burial and final funeral rite of the late Nana Pooley,” he said.
“We have players we have to pay, we have a CAF calendar to meet. The fans are aware of every step we take. They always take part in the meeting with all the stakeholders,” he added.
Before arriving at the decision, the club together with Hearts of Oak had released a joint statement requesting the FA to meet a list of reforms proposed.
