Lawmaker for Ashaiman Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Hon. Ernest Henry Norgbey, has stated that he cannot understand why some soldiers are brutalizing his constituents due to the killing of a soldier.
According to the lawmaker, he has received series of calls from his constituents concerning the evasion of military guys in his community.
‘‘I have had a call from the residents, as soon as I had that call I had to engage the police commander to know exactly what was going on. Fortunately for me, he told me that he is aware that these military guys may be coming’’ Hon. Ernest Norgbey added.
‘’It was just like orchestrating something whether it was a call from above because you cannot understand how a military guys will come into your constituency with buses, armored cars and helicopters showing around the whole community putting fear and panic into the people,’’ he told the media
Hon. Ernest Norgbey indicated that residents who are going out for their daily activities were not able to go out for their activities because of the military invasion.
The MP said it is unlawful for the military to brutalise constituents but however, condemned the allegedly killing of a soldier by unknown assailants in the constituency.
Resident narrated that heavily armed soldiers numbering about 20 stormed the area Tuesday dawn and started attacking residents, preventing them from even stepping out of their homes.
It was alleged that soldiers are on the street and preventing everyone from stepping out.
