Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Minister of Energy, has affirmed that the Ashanti region plays a strategic role in Ghana’s socio-economic development with the viability of projects.
The current projects are on power generation, transmission and distribution as a key step in ensuring power stability in the region.
He stated that the current projects will have an overarching impact on the energy future of our country.
“I am leading a team from the Ministry of Energy on a working visit to the Ashanti Region on 30th November and 1st December 2021. We will among others inspect current projects on power generation, transmission and distribution as a key step in ensuring power stability in the region,’’ Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh said on his Facebook post.
“Key on my agenda is the inspection of the site for the relocation of the Ameri Power Plant in Anwomaso. This relocation will ensure the stabilization of the power supply in the middle parts of the country. The geotechnical and grid impact studies for the project have been completed and will apprise me of the progress of preparatory activities on the site,’’ he added.
He said that the visit also will enable him and his team to assess first-hand, the readiness of the power system, infrastructure and its associated facilities to deliver a stable and reliable power supply.
I will also be in line with the custom and tradition call on the Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, for the first time, since assuming office as Energy Minister.
