The Ashanti Regional Police Command has announced the arrest of several suspects in connection with armed robbery and narcotics trafficking.
According to the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Godwin Ahianyo, the arrests were made in a series of operations conducted by the police.
In one notable incident, three suspected armed robbers – Umar Issah, 26, Sherif Mohammed, 20, and Abdul Jalelu, 19 – were apprehended after they attacked and robbed two residents in the Kenyasi area. The suspects were arrested shortly after the incident, and the stolen mobile phones and motorbikes used in the robbery were retrieved.
The suspects are currently receiving medical treatment under strict police guard at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
In another operation, a 29-year-old suspect, Adam Mohamed, was arrested for dealing in narcotic substances. The police retrieved 35 packs of Tramadol and other items from the suspect’s possession, as well as GHC 66,950.00 believed to be proceeds from the sale of illicit drugs.
The Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) in the Ashanti Region also announced the arrest of five suspects in connection with a series of robbery incidents in the Denchemuoso District. The suspects, including Michael Owusu Ansah, Emmanuel Owusu, Maxwell Gyimah, Sudais Oxford Ntiamoah, and Rhano Okyere, were arraigned before court and remanded into police custody.
The Ashanti Regional Police PRO when addressing the press this morning the Ashanti Regional police command headquarters, DSP Godwin Ahianyo commended the efforts of the Regional Operations team and the Drug Law Enforcement Unit for their swift and decisive action.
The Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to fighting drug-related crimes and protecting lives and property, assuring the public that similar operations will continue across the region.
