Alan Kyerematen, a contender for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flag, claims that if he is chosen as the party’s presidential candidate, the NPP will have a stronger chance of winning the 2024 elections.
Mr. Kyerematen, who is now doing a campaign trip in the Volta Region, claims that if he is the party’s leader, the NPP can win support there.
“I want you to look at all of us very clearly. Which of us is likely to become Ghana’s next president if he gets the nod to be flagbearer? It is only one person among the contestants. This is what the 69 people are telling you, who you can market to the people of Ghana, and that is Alan Kyerematen. Out of the 10 contestants, I am the only one who can stand toe to toe with the NDC,” he noted.
On Monday, July 17, 2023, Mr. Kyerematen informed the Volta region’s residents that, should they back him in his bid for the president, he would be willing to assume the role of the late President Jerry John Rawlings as their godfather.
Speaking to delegates from various constituencies who had gathered in Aflao in Ketu South, Dzodze in the North, and Sogakope in Central Tongu, respectively, Mr. Kyerematen pleaded with the delegates in the area to support him in the November NPP primaries and ultimately in the 2024 elections to become President of the country so he could continue the constructive role the late President played in the development of the region.
