Assembly Members in Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipal Assembly in Ashanti Region have voted against President Akufo Addo’s nominee for the Municipal Chief Executive position.
The Assembly is made up of 31 members, with 21 being elected Assembly members and 10 government appointees.
However, at the end of voting on Friday, the nominee Michael Awuku Amoah polled 19 Yes votes which represent 61.3 percent as against 12 No votes which represent 38.7 percent as a result fell short of the two-thirds majority valid votes required.
Hon. Simon Osei Mensah the Ashanti regional minister said all six municipal assemblies who have so far voted have confirmed their nominees.
