Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former MP for Assin Central and 2024 NPP presidential aspirant took swift action on Sunday when he witnessed a fatal hit-and-run incident at Assin Nsuta. While en route from Assin Fosu to Accra, his convoy encountered a tragic scene, a motorbike engulfed in flames, and its rider had died.
Upon inquiry, it was revealed that two articulated trucks traveling from Assin Fosu towards Cape Coast were involved.
One with registration number AS-9475-29 attempted to overtake the other and collided head-on with the oncoming motorbike, killing the rider instantly. The second truck with a registration number allegedly ran over the lifeless body, rendering it unrecognizable.
Recognizing the severity of the situation, Hon. Agyapong ordered his convoy to pursue the fleeing driver of the first truck.
They successfully apprehended the suspect and handed him over to the Assin Manso Police Command for further investigation. Agyapong assured the public of his commitment to ensuring justice is served in this case.
