The Asuogyaman District office of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has confirmed the discovery of a drowned male body, believed to be in his 40s, in the Volta River near the Senchi Ferry.
The almost decomposing body was found during the weekend.
A formal report was filed at the Adomi-Senchi Police Station, prompting a swift response by a joint rescue and recovery team. The team included personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Military Intelligence, NADMO, the Assembly Member for Senchi Electoral Area, Hon. Zurak Abdul Hamid, and local divers.
During a preliminary examination, a mobile phone was recovered from the deceased’s pocket. The phone has been handed over to the police to assist in identification efforts and ongoing investigations.
The body has been transported to the Police Hospital in Accra for autopsy and further forensic examination as authorities work to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
