The leadership of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Atiwa East Constituency has officially declared its support for the nomination of Mr. Ernest Owusu Ntim as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area.
At a press briefing held on Thursday, the Constituency Executive Committee, together with ward coordinators, announced that they had unanimously resolved on January 8, 2025, to back Mr. Ntim’s nomination, citing his long-standing service and immense contributions to the party’s growth in the constituency.
According to the executives, Mr. Owusu Ntim, who has served as the Atiwa East Constituency Chairman for over a decade, possesses in-depth knowledge of the constituency’s challenges and has demonstrated consistent leadership over the years.
“He has been in the constituency for eleven years as chairman. He knows the problems of our people and has worked tirelessly to resolve them, especially for our grassroots members,” they said William Addo Kyei Barfuor, constituency youth organizer who addressed the media.

The group highlighted Mr. Ntim’s commitment to the party, noting that he has been instrumental in expanding the party’s support base, funding campaign activities, and initiating social intervention projects.
“During the recent election campaign, our chairman personally sponsored the parliamentary candidate by providing campaign materials, logistics, and financial support. He also provided school furniture, footwear for students, and boreholes to communities facing water shortages—all in a bid to boost votes for the NDC,” the executives added.
They further argued that contrary to claims that a parliamentary candidate may be more qualified for the DCE role, Mr. Ntim’s long-standing service, educational background, and deep connection to the grassroots make him the most suitable choice.
“A person who contested an election and lost does not automatically become more qualified than someone who has led the party faithfully for over ten years and holds a Master’s degree. Mr. Owusu Ntim is our best choice,” the executives stated.
In a sharp rebuttal to criticisms by one Freeman Boateng, whom they accuse of maligning Mr. Ntim on various media platforms, the executives dismissed the attacks as baseless and politically motivated.
“These are the same individuals who were absent during our campaign but are now resurfacing to tarnish our chairman’s image. Their actions are clearly a personal vendetta and should not be taken seriously,” they said.

The executives have called on the national leadership of the NDC to disregard any petitions or complaints against Mr. Ntim, urging them to rather reward his loyalty and efforts with the DCE appointment.
“The time has come for the NDC government to recognize Mr. Ntim’s contribution and give hope to the teeming youth of Atiwa East,” they concluded.
