In an audio intercepted by mybrytfmonline has revealed the NPP Volta Regional Chairman, Mr. Kofi Makafui Woanya, strongly cautioning the Keta Constituency 1st Vice Chairman and NABCO Coordinator, Mr. Emmanuel Gemega, to stay away from his activities or face his wrath.
This was after Emmanuel Gemegah, allegedly tried to persuade his superior to desist from involving himself in internal affairs of the constituency.
Mr. Gemegah is said to have told the media that, his house was raided by the Regional Chairman with his thugs holding weapons to attack him after the District Assembly elections.
He narrated that, the attack was a result of a defeat of a candidate been supported by the Regional Chairman to another.
It is alleged that the Regional Chairman has always involved himself in most internal matters and elections of the party to advance his personal interest.
He added that, during the electioneering process of the District Assembly, the Regional Chairman was actively involved in canvassing votes for the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) Ward Coordinator for Keta Central, Mr. Gabriel Dzikunu, as against his own compatriot who was seeking re-election in the same electoral area.
Information gathered indicated that the NPP Chairman helped to distribute assorted items such as boxes of matches, cutlasses, recharge cards and an undisclosed amount of money to eligible voters within the Keta Central electoral area to entice voters.
According to Geoffrey James Ocloo, a member of the Keta NPP who accompanied Mr. Gamegah to his residence, just after the District Assembly elections were on Tuesday, 17th December 2019, at about 6:45 pm, drove to his house in the company of his wife and the elder brother of the elected assembly member for Keta central, Mr. Geoffrey James-Ocloo.
“When he got home and parked his car within the premises of Keta Senior High Technical School, he stated that they spotted four vehicles; a black Toyota V8 4×4 with registration number VR 1718-19, an ash-colored Mazda saloon registered VR 400-18, a red Benz saloon registered GE 4251-19 and an ash-colored Toyota Corolla with registration number was GW 877-12, and a motorbike was parked in front of the Quao-Abruquah house (Girls) dormitory.
He further narrated, the time he got down from the vehicle in front of Block 7, Mr. Makafui Kofi Woanyah and his thugs had surrounded the three of them with eight other strong, well-built body men.
The three alleged that, upon careful observation, they identified Messrs Innocent Papa Gobah and Elikem Anicetus Sewordor, who are the Constituency Communications Officer and Constituency Organiser for Keta respectively.
Mr. Makafui Woanyah then called Gemegah to inform him of what he told Mr. Woanyah’s boy.
Gemegah asked him “what did he say I told him”? then Mr. Woanyah asked his boy to repeat what he claimed the 1st Vice Chairman, Gemegah told him.
The gentleman, later identified as Mr. Korshie Havor who operates the MACOLIVE Gas Filling station at Tegbi-Xekpa junction, belonging to the Regional Chairman, now alleged that the 1st Vice Chairman had told him that, they had defeated Mr. Woanyah and that his candidate at Keta had lost to their candidate as Dr. Benjamin Sena Dzameshie, the NPP parliamentary candidate was now in charge of Keta constituency.
The NABCO Coordinator disclosed that, without any confirmation from him, Mr. Makafui Woanyah drew closer to him and began spewing very threatening statements on him in disparaging and dehumanizing manner.
In the audio, Mr. Kofi Wanya was heard telling Mr. Gemegah to stop calling his name, or else he will crush him, as he knows how to do it.
“Mentioning my name will not give you anything, it will not give you any profit, who is in charge? Dzameshie is in charge of Keta( parliamentary candidate), I am in charge of Volta region, are you not aware? Do you envy that? Go and ask him! go and ask him! Go and ask Dzameshie! I was in New York when you people were conducting your election, even before that, did you hear me campaigning for ABC, anytime, you want to draw me into your business, I don’t have time, am so occupied that I don’t have time for this pettiness, but let me warn you, next time you mention my name, I will crush you” he cautioned.
The Regional Chairman continued that, he is always been tried to be drawn into small matters in the Keta municipality, but he would want to emphatically tell Mr. Gemegah that, he fights bigger matters and not mere issues.
“I have come to tell you (Emmanuel Gemegah) that let this one are the first and the last, otherwise I will crush you” Mr. Wanya warned.
He alleged, he gave the Parliamentary candidate money to file for the NPP orphan constituency parliamentary primaries.
For him, once he is the Regional Chairman, all the constituency executives are his subordinates and that, petty things in the region mean nothing to him.
“Politically you’re nothing to me Emmanuel Gemegah, I fight bigger matters not you if you want to get into the ring with me, I will not, am doing a project in Keta, anytime I come around people come to greet me, even the chief himself and many older people, he stressed.
