The Omanhene of Dormaa Traditional Council Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu ll who is also the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs has expressed concerns about the frequent reports of leakages and wastage of public funds reported by the Auditor-General and the lack of clear action on the part of the government to address that challenge.
Welcoming Madam Hariett Thompson, the UK’s High Commissioner to Ghana to his palace, Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu ll asked whether the political leadership of the country judiciously uses the taxes we collect and the support we receive because the auditor general report always publicizes a series of leakages of public funds which should have improved the life of the citizenry.
Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu Il, therefore, appealed to the Government not to consider criticisms as an attack but must embrace them to guide its resolve to deal drastically and decisively with issues confronting the country.
The chief expressed appreciation to Madam Thompson for actively engaging political parties and other major stakeholders ahead of the general election to promote peaceful, free, transparent, and fair elections devoid of violence, acrimony, and intimidation.
He bemoaned how people get engulfed with Fear and panic ahead of elections in Ghana stressing that the electoral commission must ensure people follow the cardinal principles of free, fair, and peaceful elections and make sure anything which will not enforce the standards of peaceful elections should not be entertained.
On her part, Madam Thompson assured that the trade, business, and investments section of the High Commission would explore possibilities of bringing in private investment to boost poultry farming and cashew business in the Dormaa enclave.
She said the UK has been offering major support to the people of Bono, Bono East, and the Ahafo regions so the Bilateral agreement between Ghana and the UK will continue to be deepened to ensure peaceful coexistence and the growth of Ghana.
