Hon. Baffour Yeboah Asuamah I has been re-elected as the Presiding of Member the Kwahu East District Assembly, after elections conducted by the District Electoral Commission.
Hon. Baffour Yeboah Asuamah I was elected at a majority decision of 31 votes cast out of an overall 33 assembly members including the DCE and excluding the member of parliament who in addition makes the number 34 but as a legal requirement, he does not have the right to cast vote, representing 98% of the total votes cast.
The two (2) assembly members who could not have the chance to cast their votes respectively were said to be on an official travel whiles the other is said to be unwell.
The PM, Hon. Baffour Yeboah Asuamah I who doubles as the Kwahu Mawere Hene is being re-elected by his colleague honourable to retain his position went unopposed as no other candidate filed a nomination to contest for the post.
The election, which was held at the Assembly hall of the KEDA was supervised by the District Electoral Commissioner Mrs Stella Sarpong whiles the District Magistrate Judge, His Lordship Solomon Kwasi Alamatu sworn in the Presiding Member after his re-election.
The PM, while speaking to the media on the sidelines of the elections, acknowledged the efforts of Assembly Members and rallied for their relentless support in making sure that the Kwahu East District continues to be one of the best in the region.
“My honourable Assembly members, I thank you once again, I thank you in the name of God, you’ve elected me for the third time as PM. I ask for God’s intervention and your support to steer the affairs of the Assembly so as to serve our people in our utmost capacity”
The Presiding Member, according to the District Chief Executive, Hon. Isaac Agyapong becomes the first person to be re-elected three consecutive times.
