Three persons have reportedly been killed this week in three separate attacks on Bawku bound buses as deadly tribal conflict rages.
The renewed chieftaincy conflict between Mamprusis and Kusasi in Bawku has led to multiple deaths.
The recent attack happened yesterday when a group of people shot into a Kumasi-Bawku bound bus at the outskirt of Walewale this dawn killing one person and injuring seven others.
The attack is believed to be in connection with the ongoing chieftaincy-related conflict within the enclave.
An intelligence operation is currently ongoing by police to get the perpetrators arrested.
A resident however told mybrytfmonline.com “an attack on a bus resulting in the death of the driver and the bus burnt on Tuesday morning. You didn’t say anything. Another attack at kuka resulting in the death of two and the bus burnt just yesterday and the Ghana Police Service still didn’t say anything”.
He continued that “You are now linking the attack in walewale to only God knows what ! knowing very well that armed robbery happens along that stretch of road. The Ghana Police Service, the media and the government as a whole has tried severally to intimidate mamprusis and are the very people pampering the kusasis to continue with these attacks. You are the chief architects of the on-going war in Bawku. Until you pick the side of truth and stop all this bias witch hunting, favoritism and I dare say, corrupt activities with regards to the Bawku issues, we will keep circling around”
According to him “Mamprugu will resist any attempt of intimidation by the Ghana Police, military, government or anybody. You can NOT arrest anybody from Bawku in walewale without any concrete evidence. We will fight for our rights because we are citizens.”.
