Dr. Mark Assibey-Yeboah, NPP’s Economic Sub-Committee Chairman, assures that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s Presidential Candidate, fully stands behind the NPP’s governance record.
Dr. Bawumia recently sparked controversy after calling himself a “driver’s mate” and urging Ghanaians to promote him to “driver” through their votes. Critics see this as an attempt to distance himself from the current administration’s accomplishments and struggles.
Dr. Assibey-Yeboah set the record straight on Channel One TV’s “The Point of View” with Bernard Avle, stating Dr. Bawumia fully supports the party’s accomplishments and is committed to the party’s track record.
The NPP’s track record of development has earned the trust of Ghanaians, who are keen to retain the party in power for sustained growth.
He stated, “Bawumia is not running away from the NPP’s record, as a matter of fact, he detailed what we have done, in 7 and half years. And there’s collateral responsibility and he takes responsibility for that. We will put the NPP’s record side by side with the NDC’s record because that is where the fight is”.
“When I go around the country, I see people who are excited about voting for the NPP. There are a lot of youth who for the first time will get the opportunity to express their appreciation for the Free SHS they have enjoyed and all the other beautiful things they are seeing. There’s the social media politics and things run around, people share and people are commenting, but it’s a different ball game.”
Dr. Assibey-Yeboah assured that if elected, Dr. Bawumia is dedicated to tackling Ghana’s economic challenges head-on, bringing much-needed relief to the country.
He stated, “Which is why he’s proffering solutions in the next phase. Post-December 2022, the management of the economy has been better. Now things are improving.”
