A total of 17,485 final year students are expected to take this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Western North Region.
Out of the figure 9,059 are males and 8,426 females.
The Public Relations Officer for the regional Education Directorate Elder Spanklin Ofori Armah disclosed this in an interview with Hamza Mohammed.
He said in all 653 schools made up of 173 private and 480 public schools would be writing the examination come August 7,2023.
He explained that the examination would be written in 81 Examination Centers across the region with 653 invigilators and 81 supervisors.
He said all the Nine districts in the region would start the examination at the same time.
He stressed that a total of 3,675 students would sit for the examination in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality, while 3,546 would take their exams in the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality, 2,043 in the Aowin Municipality, 607 in Suaman District, while 1,214 write in Sefwi Bodi District with 1,852 in Sefwi Juaboso District, 1,369 would be writing in the Sefwi Akontombra District, with 2,214 and 965 taking their exams in the Bia West and Bia East District, respectively.
He said the Regional Educational Directorate has fully prepared to ensure a successful examination.
He called on all the candidates to desist from examination malpractice to avoid cancellation of their examination papers.
He appeals to parents to support their Wards with all the necessary documents to help their children pass the exams well.
Some of the final year student who are fully prepared for their examinatons also spoke with the media.
They voiced out that they are ready for the exams and appealed to the parents to support them with prayers.
