Empowering Minds, a non-governmental organization has distributed mathematical sets worth thousands of cedis to the Basic Education Certificate Examination candidates in the Akuapem South Municipality.
The mathematical sets were distributed to over five hundred candidates in eight selected Junior High Schools in the Municipality.
Beneficial schools are, Aburi Demonstration JHS, Aburi Presby JHS, Oboadaka JHS, Aburi Amanfo JHS, Dumpong JHS, Nsakye M/A JHS, Attakrom Amanfrom M/A JHS and Pokrom Nsaba JHS all in the Akuapem South.
Founder and President of the organization, Mrs. Fidelia Quansah Fianko disclosed that the municipality in recent years has been performing abysmally in the BECE examination therefore the need to encourage and motivate the candidates.
Speaking to the press, Mrs. Quansah Fianko advised the candidates to desist from any form of act that will deter their success in the forthcoming examination.
Mrs. Quansah Fianko also wished them well and cautioned them against any form of examination malpractices and asked them to be disciplined before, during and after the examination.
The group (Empowering Minds) prayed with the candidates to restore hope and confidence in them.
The Municipal Girl Child Coordinator at the Akuapem South Education Directorate, Mrs. Elizabeth Sarfoa Darko lauded Empowering Minds for their support towards Education in the municipality.
She believes the mathematical sets, words of motivation and prayer will go a long way to help the students in writing their final exam.
The Girl Child Coordinator who wasn’t happy with the attendance of candidates in some schools believes despite the abysmal performance last year, the candidates will change the narrative in this year’s examination.
Candidates who were expectant expressed gratitude to the group and promised to come out with flying colours.
Empowering Minds has a lot under their sleeves to support education and health in the Akuapem South Municipality.
One of these which starts soonest is the Mobile Library. The Mobile Library seeks to train and educate students in remote areas in the municipality in computing.
Volunteers will be going to these deprived communities with a van full of laptops and other computer accessories to train the students in Information Technology.
