Emotional member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Hon. Micheal Okyere Baafi went on his kneels whilst interacting with BECE Candidates to beg them to score higher grades in this year’s examination.
He has, urged the students to learn hard and achieve good grade at the end of the examination, adding that they could only pass their examinations successfully only when they out in the needed effort and work hard.
The Member of Parliament made the appeal on Saturday, June 24, when he launched the 3rd edition of his Free MP’s Special Classes, Career Guidance And Counseling for BECE Candidates in New Juaben South in the Eastern region.
The motive behind the free classes according to the MP, is characterized by the poor performance of BECE candidates in his constituency hence, the need for him to take it upon himself to organize such programmes for the Children yearly to support them in their academic endeavors.
Speaking to Afeema FM’s journalist Kaakyire Kwasi Afari whilst addressing the candidates, Mr. Okyere Baafi said education remains his topmost priority and that he will do all he can to improve the situation.
Michael Okyere Baafi also presented exercise books to the school heads for onward distribution to cover over 2,000 pupils in New Juaben South to aid their studies.
The students according to Hon Michael Okyere Baafi, are the future leaders of the nation and therefore want to prepare them fully instead of allowing them to go for the examination unprepared.
The classes which will be taught by WAEC Examiners and teachers selected from some prestigious Senior High Schools, covers both core and elective subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science and Social Studies.
It also targeted 20% of the total registered candidates from each schools in the New Juaben South including Special and Private Schools in the municipality.
He reiterated that, to become successful in future starts from school and calls for collective responsibilities from both parents and teachers to support the Children in this crucial moment.
Michael Okyere Baafi, who is perturbed about BECE results said “the good news is that we have a record to break. Last year I knelt down, today, I’m saying that you get the good grade for me, get the grades. If you get the grades for me, if you want me to take you to school I will drive you myself and take you to school. If you get very good grades, I will put you in my car to school if you want it. I’m not kidding. I beg you in the name of the Lord” the MP knelt and pleaded.
The New Juaben South MP pledged to reward pupils who would excel in the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination in August with laptops and phone tablets to further their education.
According to him, the reward is a special package for those who will obtain aggregate 6-9 in New Juaben South Constituency.
Meanwhile, Henry, a final year student of Nana Kwaku Boateng Basic ‘A’ school expressed gratitude for the initiative adding that, they will be adequately prepared to sit for the examination.
He described the tuition of the Career Guidance And Counseling as timely as they embrace themselves to face another level of the world after Junior High School Education.
