The Sunyani Manhene, Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, visited the Sunyani Senior High School (SUSEC) examination centres A and B in the Bono Region to inspire and advise BECE candidates.
As the candidates entered their second day of exams, Omanhene’s message emphasized the importance of courage and perseverance.
During a parade on Thursday morning, Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II encouraged the students to face the exam with confidence, noting that many teachers and chiefs, including himself, had successfully navigated similar challenges.
He stressed that hard work and determination were key to success and urged the candidates to put their knowledge into practice on paper.
The Sunyani Municipal has taken the lead in BECE registration in the Bono Region, with a total of 4,558 candidates comprising 2,165 boys and 2,393 girls.
The examination will be conducted across 16 centres, involving 125 schools – 59 public schools and 66 private schools – with 16 invigilators overseeing the process.
The Sunyani Manhene also warned the candidates against examination malpractices, cautioning that any candidate caught would face consequences, including cancellation of their papers.
He advised them to leave any unauthorized materials behind before entering the examination hall.
In a motivational conclusion, Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II promised a scholarship scheme for candidates who obtain a single grade, assuring them of his support and God’s protection.
The Sunyani East Municipal Education Public Relations Officer Yaa Kumi Yeboah thanked Omanhene for his timely and unprecedented visit, noting that it would greatly motivate the candidates.
Yaa Kumi Yeboah described the Omanhene’s visit as a historic moment, marking the first time a paramount chief had toured examination centres to directly address candidates during the exam period.
In a sidelined interview with the Akwamuhene of Sunyani Traditional Council, Nana Kwaku Sarbeng II, he believes that the visit will inspire hope and confidence of the students to pass the exam.
He told Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Sunyani-based Ark fm that the caution against malpractices by the Omanhene was key as part of the traditional authority to make sure that all the candidates who partake in the exam succeed and the negative tag of examination malpractices in the region will be curtailed.
