The Disciplinary Committee (DC) of the Ghana Football Association has handed Bechem United defender Samuel Osei Kuffour, a two-game ban for stamping on Asante Kotoko forward, Frank Mbella.
Kuffour stamped on Etouga’s arm during a Ghana Premier League game between the Hunters and the Porcupine Warriors which ended 0-0.
The player as part of the sanction has been fined GHC1,000.
A statement from the Ghana FA reads, “Osei Kuffour is charged with a breach of Article 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations, 2019,” the GFA published after the incident.
“According to the charge sheet, Samuel Osei Kuffour did intentionally kick player number 11 of Asante Kotoko SC (Frank Thierry Etouga Mbella) in an off-ball situation, an action which in the opinion of the association is an improper behaviour and likely to bring the game into disrepute.”
“The player is expected to respond to the charge by 5:00 pm on Thursday, March 10, 2022, failing which the GFA Disciplinary Committee will proceed to adjudicate the case without his Statement of Defence”, the charge read.
The GFA has now announced the decision of the Disciplinary Committee after the hearing, along with the accompanying sanctions.
Kuffour has, according to the ruling by the DC, “is found Guilty of the charge by the Committee” and has been handed a fine of GHC1,000, a two-match ban and a caution against future behaviour.

Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan believes Southampton guardsman Mohammed Salisu is among the top three defenders in the English Premier League this season.
The 22-year-old has been outstanding in the ongoing campaign for the Saints, featuring 29 times in the Premier League.
In an interview with Peace FM, Gyan, who is the all-time topscorer for Ghana rated Salisu among the top three defenders in the Premier League.
“I watch him as fan because he is doing well at Southampton. I think he is one of the top three defenders in the Premier League and he being a Ghanaian I think he is selling the country. He is performing well but I don’t know if he wants to play for the national team”
Salisu has received numerous callups to the Black Stars for both the AFCON and World Cup qualifiers in the past.
The Southampton defender has received the call up from four coaches of the Black Stars since 2019 and has refused to honor the invitation.
Asked if Salisu must be in Ghana team, he said, “Why not, he is not only the best defender in the Premiership, the Premiership is the best league in the World and if he is rated among the top three defenders definitely, he is eligible to play for the national team if only he is in the plans of the coach and he (Salisu) has in mind to play definitely he should be ready for the national team but it will depend on him and the technical team.”
