Edem Agbana, the member of parliament for the Ketu North Constituency, has discussed the difficulties of serving in the legislature.
He claims that MPs are overburdened by demands and are burdened with people’s personal issues.
He was addressing Kasoa party members when Chairman Asiedu Nketia visited the constituency as part of his nationwide thank-you tour.
According to Agbana, expectant women increasingly give birth in hospitals and leave the bills in his name rather than paying.
“Your momo is always loaded, you are paying fees, hospital bills and what have you. These days in my constituency for example, as a rural constituency when you go to the hospital, they will tell you that women will come and give birth and they’ll say the MP will come and pay. Meanwhile, when they were enjoying the thing at night, I wasn’t there but all those things are your responsibility”. He said.
