The constitutional court in Benin has approved the election results showing President Patrice Talon won Sunday’s vote.
Mr Talon received 86% of the vote, compared to Allasane Soumanou with about 11.3% and Corentin Kohoué with 2.3%.
The court has approved the results pending appeals that can be filed in the next five days.
The court ruling comes amid reports that one of the presidential candidates who was barred from contesting – Joel Aivo – had been arrested, AFP news agency reports.
Another presidential hopeful – Reckya Madougou – who was also barred, was detained last month and accused of plotting to undermine elections.
