Elmina Sharks talisman, Benjamin Tweneboa has disclosed that players at the club in the midst of coronavirus suffered a 50% pay cut.
The outbreak of the deadly disease made football administrators take a drastic decision and with no football activities, a session of players across the globe underwent huge pay cuts to ease financial burdens on clubs.
While players abroad were made to accept pay cut due to the disease, the situation in Ghana was different as to whether or not the salary of local players should be slashed.
Speaking to Kumasi based Angel FM, Tweneboa; nicknamed Neymar revealed that salaries of him and his teammates were slashed by 50%.
“Truth to be told, we suffered a 50% pay cut. In fact, management did not dialogue with us concerning salary reduction. They took the decision without the concern of the players. Because of the covid-19 and the demise of our leader, we accepted it” he said.
