Over 20,000 poultry birds in six farms have so far been killed by bird flu outbreak within two weeks in Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality in the Western North Region of Ghana.
Mr. Augustine Amaning the Agric director explained to Correspondent Hamza Mohammed that the latest outbreak has killed 8,500 birds on a farm at once.
He said the virus is ravaging the Municipality hence called on poultry farmers to swiftly report early warning signs of the outbreak in their farms.
The Municipal NCCE Officer Martha Nnelkah Oparah urged the farmers to always contact the Agric officers for Education on this bird’s flu and cooperate with veterinary officers.
The NADMO coordinator Mr. Asante Agyarpong called on consumers to be vigilant when buying chicken for their meals from the market.
