Mr. Macaroni, Josh2Funny, BrainJotter, MrFunny (Sabinus), Mclively, Lasisielenu, Taaooma, Sydneytalker, Caramelplug, Cute abiola, Nastyblaq, I can go on and on and on.
Whilst I was just relaxing, thinking about money-making opportunities for the Ghanaian youth, I asked myself, all these skit makers and IG Comedians have become young millionaires in Naira, doing well for themselves, they have broken the jinx of traditional comedy that we knew with AY, BasketMouth, Klint D Drunk, Bovi, etc.
Where is the Ghanaian? Why can’t we do simple, punchy, catchy skits like these young Nigerians?
The Kejetia v Makola guys can break into the skit space and do short, powerful, humorous content and blow big with it. Why can’t we have our own Mark Angel, Emmanuella, etc?
Even Nigerian Pranksters like Zfancy have become very big and getting huge brands sponsoring their pranks.
All these are simple but powerful ideas that can be started with just one good phone, a tripod, and a video editing app on the phone.
Am I missing something why we haven’t taken advantage of this skit and social media humour space in Ghana? We have the talent too.
This is something our solid comedians like OB Amponsah, Don DKB, etc can take advantage of, even if we hold the assumption that the likes of LilWin and AgyaKoo are too far from its possibility.
Let’s have a conversation, what’s the problem? Ghana is getting harder, we must create disruption into new untapped spaces ooo.
