The Abirem District Police in the Eastern Region has arrested an illegal Miner for stabbing his brother to death over Ghc10 cash.
The incident happened on July 7, 2020, at about 5:20 pm when misunderstanding ensued between the two relatives – Felix Kofi Fredrick and Kwabena Asante now deceased over who takes a larger portion of GH₵10 money they got after laboring in a mining site.
The misunderstanding turned into a fight in which suspect Felix Kofi Frederick pulled a knife and allegedly stabbed Kwabena Asante in the lower abdomen killing him instantly.
He jumped on his motorbike in attempt to run away but was apprehended by other Galamseyers around who pounced on him and nearly lynched him but for the Swift rescue by the Unit Committee Members in Amenam Community and sent to the Police Station where he was rearrested but issued Medical form to seek healthcare at New Abirem Government Hospital where he was treated and discharged.
The body of the deceased Kwabena Asante, 35, has been deposited at Mamaso Community Hospital Morgue
The Acting Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command Sargeant Francis Gomado says the suspect will be put before court for prosecution.
