Former Black Stars management committee member Yaw Boateng Gyan believes Ghana stand a chance of winning the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations title.
Ghana has come close to ending the trophy drought in the last decade, 2010 Angola losing to Egypt in the finals and in 2015 Equatorial Guinea- Gabon as the Stars lost to Ivory Coast in a penalty shootout.
The 2021 AFCON has been slated for January 9 to February 6, 2022, as 24 countries battle it out for the ultimate and according to Yaw Boateng Gyan, the four-time African Champions can annex the covetous trophy.
“Though football is a game of uncertainty sometimes a team have to get some quality and self-dedicated players before, and I can’t say this current Black Stars team have the qualities to win the Afcon. We still need a strong team who can compete with other countries.”
“Even our preparations for the tournament is below standard unlike some years ago where players get preparations Program even a month before the tournament.”
“Some of our local players can play better than that of Foreign players but we’re not giving them the chance,” he told West FM.
