The Former Deputy Regional Minister of the Ashanti Region, Mr Joseph Yammin has asked critics to apportion blames on chiefs of those communities, not the past government (NDC) for building E – Blocks in bushes.
Saying that the former government had no major role in the choosing of land for the siting of the Day Senior High schools built by former President John Dramani Mahama.
In an interview with Deputy Minister of Local Government, Mr Collins Ntim on Nhyira FM in Kumasi Mr Yammin was asked “Are you saying that the chiefs didn’t know there is enough land in their towns, and yet they went ahead and gave us land in bushes? It was the government that built them, but traditional authorities allocated lands to the government; so how come it has become the fault of NDC building schools in the bush?
Adding that the effort of the NDC to build the E-block across the country had been defeated because of where they were being sited. That was mostly the response he gave to the critics from the ruling Government.
“The policy of the E-Block was that; government invest with money whiles local authorities (Chiefs) allocate lands for it”. He explained further
According to Mr Yammin, the schools were going to boost commercial activities in areas where it’s been sited though they are sited out of the towns.
Saying that people will keep moving close to the infrastructure as the place keeps developing.
