NGOs on the Rights of the child have debunked assertion that the ban on corporal punishment in our various schools has accounted for indiscipline among the youth.
Rather parents and guardians have been held accountable for recent indecent behaviors among the youth, especially in the various senior high schools.
The Coordinator for the group, Barima Kwasi Amankwah blamed most parents for failing on their responsibilities of giving proper training to their children.
He indicated that parents nowadays have little time for their children with an excuse of working hard due to economic hardship forgetting the challenges that come with it.
Speaking on recent indiscipline among WASSCE candidates in the ongoing examination, Barima Amankwah condemned the actions of the students and called for an immediate solution to deal with the indiscipline attitude of students before it gets out of hand.
He, however, called on the Education Ministry and the Ghana Education Service to consider the welfare of students involved in such acts in whatever decision they take.
