Koforidua residents have been plunged into darkness following a blast at the Old Estate Substation, prompting the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Eastern Region, to issue a public advisory.
In a statement released on Monday April 15 2024, ECG outlined the affected areas, including Old Estate, Bula Sport, Asokore, Zongo, Pipeline, Effiduase, Magazine, Wawaso, OBOSS, VHF, Anlo Town, Srodae, Vodafone, Charley Junction, ECG Regional Office, ECG District Office, DVLA, Paradise, Kenkey factory, Residency, Eredec, Gallaway, Atekyem, Nyamekrom, and surrounding environs.
Assuring residents of their commitment to resolving the issue swiftly, ECG emphasized that their engineers are working diligently to restore power supply to the affected areas.
However, ECG expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to customers, urging patience as efforts to rectify the situation continue.
Maintenance team currently working around the clock to fix the fault.
The incident has worsened the erratic power supply challenge enduring by residents in Koforidua in recent months.
Cold store operators, businesses as well as artisans are feeling the brunt of the power unstable power supply in the regional capital.
