The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Hon. Isaac Adongo, has hinted at significant development initiatives aimed at transforming Ghana’s economy.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Hon. Adongo stated that the country is on the verge of a “drastic economic transformation,” driven by the government’s Big Push agenda. He explained that the initiative will create an enabling environment to renew national infrastructure and strengthen key sectors of the economy.
According to him, the energy sector will undergo major improvements, including the construction of new power plants. He revealed that government intends to eliminate fuel-related challenges in power generation. To achieve this, the Minister for Energy and the Minister for Finance are collaborating to add an additional processing plant capable of producing not less than 160 million standard cubic feet of gas — a move he described as “transformational.”
Hon. Adongo also highlighted plans to modernize the aviation sector. He noted that Terminal 2 of the Kotoka International Airport is currently non-operational, but government aims to revive it. In addition, a corridor will be constructed to link Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, enabling seamless movement for passengers transiting between the two terminals.
He further indicated that a multi-storey car park will be built to address the persistent parking challenges at the airport, particularly in the evenings when travelers often struggle to find space, leading to missed flights. The new facility, he said, will ensure passengers have a secure and accessible place to park their vehicles before travelling.
As part of efforts to transform domestic aviation, government also plans to expand the Wa and Sunyani airports and construct a new airport in Bolgatanga, the MP disclosed.
Hon. Adongo emphasized that these initiatives form part of a broader national transformation agenda that will boost economic growth and improve infrastructure across the country.
