Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, the Municipal Chief Executive, MCE for Techiman the Bono East Regional capital, has cautioned hospitals and health centres providing services for clients under the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to desist from charging unapproved fees from patients under the pretence of Government delaying in paying their claims.
Hon. Benjamin Gyarko who was the Manager of Techiman Municipal Health Insurance Scheme before his current position admitted the challenges facing providers but also maintained that, it is illegal and criminal to take money from a patient for services rendered and again submit bills to NHIA to claim payment for same services already charged.
He made this observation when the Techiman Municipal Health Insurance Scheme held their “End of Year Stakeholders and Performance Review Meeting for 2021” to access the performance of the entity and the way forward.
Mr. George Oppong Dankwah, Bono East Regional Manager of NHIA, commended stakeholders and staff for the extra ordinary performance in the 2021 operational year which saw a lot of successes been chopped.
He also, called on all to register with the scheme in order to enjoy the numerous benefits of the scheme as Government has added more services unto the insurance scheme.
