Victims of the Wenchi Youths Afforestation accident which occurred on the 25th April, 2022 in the Bono region are bitterly complaining about how authorities have neglected them.
According to the aggrieved victims, they were returning from tree planting duty in a tricycle when they unfortunately met such a tragic incident which left one dead and two others currently disabled.
Madam Rebecca Dekyi, one of the victims, explained further that the leadership of Bono Regional Forestry Department only visited them at the hospital the day of the incident and never saw them again till now.
She mentioned again that, they are not yet healed but because they are unable to cover their hospital bills which currently range around GHC 10,000 and GHC 60,000 for the two respectively, this has force the hospital authorities to discharge them prematurely.
She also mentioned how her colleague victim has been suffering from spinal and waist problems having also undergone two unsuccessful surgery forcing them to use clutches now.
She called on the Government and other stakeholders to come to their aid before the situation becomes complex.
Former Assembly Member for Jesoso Electoral Area at Wenchi in the Bono Region, Joseph Nkrumah also shared how tragic the life of these victims has been since they have kids to care for without any support.
