The timely intervention of the Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service in the Bono Region prevented what could have led to a fire explosion at Jeokona Gas Filling Station at Fiapre near Sunyani.
The Firefighting Crews from Sunyani Metro Fire Station and Regional Headquarters responded and arrived at the fire ground within nine (9) minutes after dispatch.
The brave Firefighting Crews met the well alight raging fire which had caught up with some bushes, a metal container used as a cold store and rapidly spreading in all directions towards the Joekona Gas Filling Station by means of strong harmattan winds.
The dexterous Firefighting Crew succeeded in knocking down the raging fire from travelling further to affect the Gas Station after seven (7) hours of intense strategic fire fighting.
The sawmill and the metal container that is used as a cold store and their contents were partially affected by the raging fire.
The Joekona Gas Filling Station was, however, not affected by the raging fire thanks to the quick intervention by the Firefighting Personnel of Bono Region Fire Command.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
