The President of Breast Care International, Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai has educated ladies on the importance of the no bra day.
No bra day is a day set aside to create awareness on Breast cancer and free the breast from its uncomfortability from wearing a bra all the time.
As October is a breast cancer awareness month, ladies must be reminded to take proper care of their breasts.
Dr. Beatrice Wiafe in an interview with Abena Opokua Ahwenee on Dadi FM stressed that wearing a bra all the time causes pressure on the breast which consequently results in breast pain.
She added that some ladies prefer wearing bra sizes that are smaller than their breast size which is also a contributing factor for breast cancer.
“As a lady you need to know your bra size, if you are size 38, make sure you buy a bra that fits that size instead of buying 32, this causes tightness and can result in breast cancer “, she added.
According to her, ladies must practice self-examination once every month so they can notice any unusual change or pain in their breasts.
She educated the public on how to check for breast cancer.
“You need to stand in front of the mirror to check your breast shape, and check if there is any discharge mostly blood or any unusual color of a substance from your breast, check for lumps too”, she said.
In the same vein, she also alerted that sometimes these symptoms may not necessarily be breast cancer hence the need to visit a doctor for clarification.
