The Eastern Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Evans Osei Yeboah, has suggested that Dr. Bryan Acheampong is gradually positioning himself as a strong contender for the party’s next flagbearer.
According to Mr. Yeboah, considering Dr. Bryan. Acheampong’s achievements and influence, it would not be surprising if his name is eventually mentioned prominently in the race to lead the party.
He explained that ongoing tensions between supporters of two leading presidential hopefuls—Vice President Dr. Mawudu Bawumia and Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong—have created a situation where the party may require a unifying figure.
He noted that the current state of internal contestation within the NPP calls for a compromise candidate who can bring all factions together to effectively face the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 general elections.
Mr. Yeboah said a major message from Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s camp is party unity and discipline. He emphasized that Dr. Acheampong’s background as a former United States Air Force officer has shaped his strong sense of discipline and leadership.
He further observed that recent utterances by supporters of both Dr. Bawumia and Mr. Kennedy Agyapong have been troubling, stressing that such public exchanges should not be encouraged within a governing party. According to him, the absence of firm leadership and internal discipline has become evident.
Mr. Yeboah stated that Dr. Acheampong’s supporters believe that should he emerge as leader, he would restore discipline and order within the party. He added that Dr. Acheampong has consistently urged his followers to avoid insults and name-calling, a stance that has distinguished his campaign from others.
Touching on youth concerns, Mr. Yeboah said unemployment remains a major issue, and leadership must demonstrate tangible contributions to national development. He referenced comments by Professor Michael Qyea, who noted that aspiring leaders must show evidence of personal achievement and service to society.
In this regard, Mr. Yeboah highlighted Dr. Acheampong’s investments in the hospitality industry, describing him as a key player in the sector. He cited Rock City Hotel at Kwahu, regarded as the largest hotel in Ghana, as a clear example of Dr. Acheampong’s contribution to job creation and economic development.
Mr. Yeboah made these remarks during an interview on Bryt Adekyee Mu Nsem.
