The maiden edition of ‘Bryt FM Master the Mic’ has commenced as their first auditions took off today at Dadi’s Bar.
Master the Mic is a talent show which has been organized by Blitz House Events and Bryt FM.
The objective of the show is to reveal the hidden talents in some upcoming artiste in Ghana and also give them the platform to show what they are made of.
The first audition was successful as lots of young musicians took a bold step into the spotlight to be recognized and known in the mainstream media.
According to the coordinator and host of Fresh page entertainment on Bryt 99.1 FM, JahSolo, they received over 90 entries from artists all over the country but had to shortlist to 64. Out of the 64 shortlisted artists, 25 people are going to be picked for the main contest.
The first session just ended with 16 young, vibrant artistes showing the judges why they deserve a slot in the prestigious competition, however since that is the first part of the audition another one will take place later in the afternoon.
The first session was hosted by Nana Efya Dansowah Abbeam, with artistes such as Shocker, Kojo Success, RM Nation, Kojo skeptic, Kobby Geezy, and the others passing through.
The judges for the audition were Ohene Jah Glory, Kobby Slim, and Drum Boi.
Speaking to one of the judges, Kobby Slim, he indicated that his expectations were not met but he has seen some great talents so far.
“So far so good, I will not say I’m not impressed but I just hope that they would do more. I have seen some great talents but since this is the first part of the auditions let’s see what the other artists will bring”, these were his words.
A lot of these artists were quite hopeful that their performance impressed the judges and believe that they will certainly join the train to victory.
Speaking to Thug friends, a team among the contestants, they said that they believe this will be a stepping stone into their music career.
“When we heard that the winner will be featured on a song with Fameye, it motivated us to come and audition because we want the world to know what we have and so far we are hopeful that we will get selected”, were the words from thug friends.
Another artist who also passed through the auditions, JK Cyril also averred that he was informed by a friend to participate in the competition and he believes that God planted something in him that the world needs to see.
“I was home when a friend spoke to me about me and I decided to register because I believe God has given me the talent to sing and if I don’t participate in competitions like no one would know of it that’s why I decided to come today”, He said.
Abass Suleman whose stage name is Romeo Boi who seemed overly excited asserted and also believes that he is the biggest upcoming artiste in Ghana now and he is hopeful that he will be selected.
“I have always been a star and I know this will reveal the stardom in me”.
Most of the contestants were very hopeful that they will get selected and feature one of Ghana’s biggest musicians, Fameye.
The program will begin on 1st August, winners will be selected monthly and the first winner will have the chance to be featured on a song with high life crooner Fameye.
