A 30-year-old Businessman has been convicted into one-year imprisonment by the Asamankese Circuit Court for indecently assaulting one Victoria Anya and a police officer.
The accused, Benjamin Gavua pleaded guilty to the three counts and was convicted on his own plea at the court presided over by His Honour Abubakari Abass Adams.
Prosecution said the complainant, in this case, is a trader residing in Nyanoa while the accused person is a businessman residing in a nearby village called Ahuntem.
According to prosecution, on 6th March 2020 at around 9:30pm, the complainant was on her way to a village called Oshimpo on her way, the accused and his friends approached the complainant but she ignored them.
The accused was unhappy over the complainant’s action and indecently assaulted her leading to injuries in her body.
When a report was made at Nyanoa Police Station, two officers, G/L/Cpl Mustapha Abubakari and Community Police Assistant Cudjoe Isaac were also beaten by the accused person.
The Police manage to arrest the accused and sent him to court for prosecution.
