Head coach for the Black Stars of Ghana, Charles Kwablan Akonnor has urged home-based players to strive to be consistent if they want to play for the national team.
The ex-Black Stars player was appointed as the head coach for the Ghana national team a couple of months ago as he replaced Coach James Kwesi Appiah whose contract expired at the end of December 2019.
For Coach CK Akonnor’s first call-up, he invited 4 players from the Ghana Premier League namely Yahaya Mohammed, Kwadwo Amoako, Habib Mohammed, and Richard Attah.
In an interview with the media team of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the manager has assured that he is ready to give more call-ups in the subsequent national assignment if players show consistency.
“My research tells me in Ghana [that] no player has been able to play three matches on the top [in top form]. Three, four
, it is a challenge. They need to be consistent with their performance and they will automatically get in there”, Coach Akonnor said.
